In our earlier corporate lives, long vacations were an unfamiliar concept. We were so busy with the regular 9 to 9 jobs, that there was not time to explore new destinations or persue any desirable hobbies. In 2012, with sufficient savings to our names, we decided to take a break from work and travel to our favourite destinations. Intially it was supposed to be an year long break which kept extending as new adventures kept us constantly on our toes. It seemed like fulfilling a dream we had long nurtured.

For two incredible years we wandered without a plan. We explored the beauty of foreign lands and also discovered the hidden gems of our own country. We felt like vagabonds who just wanna explore new places and not settle down. During this journey, a serendipitous interaction with an old friend Harpal brought us to Tirthan Valley. The beautiful valley with its pristine waters and lush green tree line, rustic old houses and warm smiling faces felt special. The breathtaking views and rustic landscape captivated our imagination and we wondered if this is the place we should call “Home”

Fortune smiled on us, and we soon found the perfect piece of land in Tirthan. By mid-2014, construction on our dream holiday home had begun. During this time, we experienced staying in village homestays for the first time in India. These stays were transformative, they gave us a unique opportunity to connect with the home owners, immerse ourselves in their lifestyle, and see the valley through their eyes. We savoured local food and embraced the simplicity and warmth of village life, which slowly but surely grew on us.

In 2017, as we were putting the finishing touches on our home, life blessed us with our daughter, Kudrat. With her arrival, our plans evolved. We named our home The Wood House and decided to start a homestay on her name, blending our love for this valley with the desire to raise both our Kudrat’s - the little one and the homestay, in the lap of nature.

At Kudrat, we’ve worked to harmonize the charm and simplicity of a traditional village homestay with the comfort and elegance of a modern boutique hotel. Our dedicated team, made up mostly of local villagers, runs Kudrat professionally and with great love and warmth. We strive to ensure that every guest experiences the best hospitality.
